[ now this is interesting. yennefer's time over the last however long since the dimming had been more focused on rest and recovery than anything. she's further secured her place in thorne, which has allowed her a more regular return to the horizon - further giving her the chance to pick back up on her lessons with ciri, to mess with her new knowledge of the singularity itself, and even to check in on a witcher every now and then.

I found out Princess Cirilla is here, which I assume you already knew. Our conversation did not go well when we put it together. I am warning you in case you hear from her or Geralt on the matter.

[ Leaving the sanctity of Yennefer's quarters so they both could have time to themselves, in hindsight, had been an awful idea. Anakin hadn't studied much before the carefully cultivated calm that had taken weeks to build up had all but shattered. Sensing his Master's presence had been the start of the emotional eruption, but actually seeing him, in his own domain at that, had been too much. He'd been ready to throw all his accusations at Obi-Wan, his betrayal back at him, and for turning Padmé against him, too. He hadn't anticipated his once-brother to have been younger than he was- and what hurt the most was knowing exactly the time he'd come from. Sure, he'd admitted it had been just after Anakin's Knighting, but to be able to plot out Obi-Wan's choices and missteps in a line leading to his own Fall?
The thing that pushed most at his sense of righteousness he'd built up since coming here was that Obi-Wan was upset, not understanding how the man standing before him could ever be a possibility. When all Anakin wanted to do was be angry and resentful at him, old habits had kicked in and he'd actually tried to comfort Anakin about it. As much as he'd wanted to just fall into that disarming comfort he used to rely on, he'd bucked against it, insisting he was being toyed with. Why else would he be so accepting when the last time he'd seen his former Master, they'd crossed blades? He'd fled because he couldn't take it. Maybe that made him a coward.
Retreating from the Horizon in a state of anger and frustration only to be confronted by his best friend about his absence left him feeling wrung-out and needing to retreat to that solitude again to recalibrate. He lets himself quietly back into Yennefer's quarters. He knows she's there because he can feel her calming presence floating around him, practically beckoning him back to solitude. She's in much the same position as she was when he'd left her for the library, propped on the sofa with a book in her hand. Needing to be close to her but needing more to recenter himself, he sits on the floor at her feet with his head resting against her leg.
He stays silent for a few minutes before muttering quietly. ]
I don't know what I'd do without you.
[ Leaving the sanctity of Yennefer's quarters so they both could have time to themselves, in hindsight, had been an awful idea. Anakin hadn't studied much before the carefully cultivated calm that had taken weeks to build up had all but shattered. Sensing his Master's presence had been the start of the emotional eruption, but actually seeing him, in his own domain at that, had been too much. He'd been ready to throw all his accusations at Obi-Wan, his betrayal back at him, and for turning Padmé against him, too. He hadn't anticipated his once-brother to have been younger than he was- and what hurt the most was knowing exactly the time he'd come from. Sure, he'd admitted it had been just after Anakin's Knighting, but to be able to plot out Obi-Wan's choices and missteps in a line leading to his own Fall?
The thing that pushed most at his sense of righteousness he'd built up since coming here was that Obi-Wan was upset, not understanding how the man standing before him could ever be a possibility. When all Anakin wanted to do was be angry and resentful at him, old habits had kicked in and he'd actually tried to comfort Anakin about it. [ yennefer doesn't think much of it when anakin makes a comment about heading to the library. over the last couple of weeks, ever since the summoned were found, cured, and brought back to their respective factions, she hasn't been far from him. it's equal parts concern - over what the acolytes did and how it could affect his force powers, what it would mean to be cured and have full access to it all again, how anakin would feel having that much a part of him taken away and toyed with. perhaps there's a part of her that simply assumes it won't go well, perhaps there's a larger part of her that understands the feeling and knew that the only thing she'd wanted at the time was to not be alone.
it's easier than she thought it would be, keeping anakin in her space. letting him take up as much of her space as he needed. because there's no question, she had been the one in charge of it - sending him away when she had other things to get done, calling him to her when she felt like it. now she simply doesn't seem to care to send him off, letting him join her on her walks through the castle, seeing him standing in the back of her lectures or classes - not because he's a student, necessarily, but just to keep close. the biggest change, she's found, is the in between moments - the quiet hours in her room, or even her office, where she still gets her work done and still focuses on her alchemy and still lets her mind follow trail after trail, book after book, but now with anakin there too.
and she is still busy - taking up her place in the queen's court (where anakin cannot follow) and starting back up her classes and keeping an eye out for those of the summoned who have returned and what that return looks like - but rather than send anakin away to find something else to entertain his hours, yennefer finds she doesn't mind having him there. likes knowing, in her own way, that all she needs to do is glance across the room to check on him.
when he does leave, it is at his own choice; and she's fine with it, really. there is an endless supply of things for her to do and never enough hours in the day to complete them. she chooses, today, to continue with a book she'd been working her way through - letting anakin disappear for the library and pouring herself a glass of wine.
when he returns, though, she can tell something has happened. what, and with who, she doesn't yet know - but as he lets himself back in her room with quiet steps and settles on the floor by her feet, leaning against her knee. her eyes glance briefly from the pages of her book to him, curious, but not willing to push just yet. instead, with her eyes back on the pages, she lets her hand not holding the book fall to her side, her manicured fingers combing gently through his strands of blond hair. ]
You'd be far less fucked, I imagine. [ which is perhaps much more crass and not at all with the mood he's brought into her room - but she doesn't really care.
